Michael scored twice, following a 2-0 win over All Saints

Salem Fire warmed up for their Adonai League in the best way possible, with a 2-0 win over All Saint at Meridian Junior College. Michael was the man-to-watch as the Ghanaian grabbed two goals.

All Saints briefly tried to bring themselves back into the game by taking quite a number of shots on goal but they were just not good enough to beat Shalih, despite him being not on form.

Nothing could take the gloss off a thoroughly professional performance to send the Fires off to prepare for the Adonai League in good heart.

Ball Possesion

Training in the rain for Salem Fire at Bishan Park as the squad went through ball possesion drills.

Late Fall weather at Bishan Park today as the temperature dropped to 77 degrees and the heavens opened for the Fires training session. The squad gathered at around three in the afternoon for a four-o-clock start, with Shalih and Arun working apart.

The rest of the team played a five-against-five ball possesion game of 30 minutes each way before spending another 30 minutes on the same game. Then a fitness drill of around 15 minutes was conducted before a shooting practise ended the session at around six.

Salem fire stars maintain that the draw against Eagles are fair

Here is what the Fires had to say after the game against Eagles:

IAN LOW JING WEN
'It wasn't hard to play against Eagles, but it took us some time to get into the game. Timothy was great and his goal was good for morale. After the draw, we could have even won if we had been a bit more lucid. I am happy that I played. I had my chance and some minutes on the pitch. I want to thank both coaches for putting me on. I want to demonstrate that I can do well and that I am motivated to help the team.

'It isn't easy to play with Salem Fire because we have many strong players and it's not easy to find space in the side. I must be ready when the coach calls upon me.

'It is a good draw. They went ahead luckily in the first half and they could have even get another score. We improved after the break and in the end the 1-1 seems fair to me.'

ARUN GOPINATHAN
'I am doing well. I twisted my ankle in the first half, but I didn't hurt myself. Everything is okay. In the first part of the game we weren't playing confidently, we lost too many balls or just kicked them into space. In the second half we were able to play with desire and confidence. The entire team improved in the second half and you could see a good Salem Fire.'
